MAHAKUMBH

MAHAKUMBH 2025

Mahakumbh 2025 started on 13 January in Prayagraj. Mahakumbh is a very important and sacred Sanskritic and religious event which takes place every 12 years in Prayagraj (earlier Allahabad). Here lakhs of people come to the confluence of Lord Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati to take bath.

-What is the difference between Kumbh and Mahakumbh?

Kumbh Mela and Maha Kumbh Mela are both Hindu religious festivals that take place every four years in one state (Allahabad, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain), but both have some major differences:

1.Kumbh Mela:
•Kumbh Mela takes place once in four years and at different times in each city (Allahabad, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain).
• This is a small Kumbh Mela, which is held once in every city.
2.Mahakumbh Mela:

•Maha Kumbh Mela takes place on a special occasion when the time of Kumbh Mela falls at one place for all the four states.
•Maha Kumbh Mela is held once every 12 years and is considered the largest and most important fair. This fair is usually held in Prayagraj (Allahabad).

The difference between these two is that the Maha Kumbh Mela is more huge and important, whereas the Kumbh Mela takes place at shorter intervals.

-Where is the Maha Kumbh Mela organized every 12 years?

Kumbh Mela is organized in four places – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. There are four categories of this event – Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh, Purna Kumbh and Maha Kumbh. Kumbh is organized once in 12 years by rotation in all the four places Haridwar, Nashik, Ujjain and Prayagraj.

How many days is Mahakumbh Mela 2025?

-Mahakumbh Mela 2025 will be held in Prayagraj (Allahabad), and this fair takes place once in 12 years. The date and time of Mahakumbh Mela is decided according to the Hindu calendar.

It is told in these texts that celestial energy not only affects human life, but it also plays an important role in maintaining the cosmic balance.

• There is a mention of Kumbh Mela in Skanda Purana, in which it is said that when Samudra Manthan (Ocean Churning) took place between God and Goddess, the pot of nectar was taken out from Kumbh and fell on four places. Kumbh Mela is organized at these places. This book expresses the importance of Kumbh and Mahakumbh.
